Quality Assurance Analyst Akmal Sazali

I was amazed by the diversity of the employees at Syde and how the company operates with staff all over the world remotely!

In this article, we want to introduce Akmal Sazali, our Quality Assurance Analyst. When Akmal joined our agency as a Supporter in March 2021, we asked him a few questions to get to know him a little better.

This is Akmal Sazali

Akmal lives in Johor, Malaysia.

Akmal adores the view and scenery of the countryside

How would you describe yourself?

I’m pretty basic myself. If I am able to do what I love I am happy. In general, I am a very curious person and love learning something new. The most recent skill I have mastered is touch typing, it took me 6 months of practice to write fast without looking at my keyboard. I wanted to challenge myself on that particular skill because I saw some people doing that in a way that made me curious.

I am curious about many things. There was one time, where I was particularly interested in developing mobile applications. I was working on an app like Uber, but for towing services, and I put myself in a position where – If I like it or not – I had to develop the app because it was my final year project for my study. I managed to create the app, barely in time! With my eagerness and effort (and a little bit of luck 😀 ).

There’s a quote I still remember which is my motivation: “We all make choices, but in the end, the choices make us”. Also, Triple H is important for me: Honesty, Humble, and Honour. Without those three, how can we trust and respect someone?

How do you spend your spare time?

I’m likely to spend my time playing video games, like DOTA2. In case I am not doing that, I like to drive around the town with my wife, as I adore the view and scenery – especially in the countryside. Driving really is a therapy for me in this pandemic era where movement can be quite limited. So, when I get a chance, I’ll go for a drive!

Akmal’s way to Syde

I am particularly excited about Information Technology. When I was 14 years old, my bigger brother taught me how to reformat a Windows PC and install various software to help my family’s business owned CyberCafe at that time. Right then, I knew that I would like to learn more about making Software. So I took my diploma in programming. Right after that, I became more interested in the security side of Information Technology and took a degree in that subject. My working experience started from becoming an IT-Officer at a local industrial air filter company. Prior to that, I’ve done my internship as a Web Developer and Penetration Tester which mainly uses PHP, WordPress, and Backtrack.

I was amazed by the diversity of the employees at Syde and how the company operates with staff all over the world remotely! I was sure that I am able to learn a lot working here.

Of course, working remotely and the flexibility of working time is a great plus. It’s not something new but It’s also something that I’m not used to. Especially with this pandemic, remote working has become very popular. So I’m excited to work with various people with different backgrounds globally while maintaining social distancing!
