In this article, we want to introduce Charisse Ann Tubaña, our Supporter. When Charisse joined our agency in March 2021, we asked her a few questions to get to know her a little better.
This is Charisse Ann Tubaña
Charisse lives in Laguna, Philippines.
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as someone who is highly motivated, determined, and goal-oriented and I particularly enjoy working as a part of a team. I enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment like this. Beyond that, I am extremely compassionate, kind, and willing to do everything and anything for the people I care for and love. I’m an easy-going person that works well with everyone. I can easily relate to anyone in any culture and background. That allows me to make very personal connections with everyone I meet. I enjoy being around different types of people and I like to challenge myself to improve at everything I do.
How do you spend your spare time?
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many of us to hole up indoors. Being in quarantine or lockdown can mean going months or even years without face-to-face interaction, but, “every dark cloud has a silver lining”. Even in the case of the on-going pandemic I still managed to look on the bright side of the darkest situation. I love how I’m spending time talking to my boyfriend who is living and working overseas. I am also spending every day with my family, playing with our dogs and doing some household chores. I’m using this extra time given to us (due to the pandemic and lockdown) to work on my fitness regime. It is definitely the best time I can indulge in doing exercise and ensuring that I remain healthy and fit.
My relationship with my loved ones, my goals in life, and my happiness are especially important for me. In our busy lives, a major challenge is simply finding time to be present with the ones we love, whether being present means not spacing out when they are talking or being there for them. That’s why it is very important to make sure to spend some quality time with the people we love the most, because, the more closely we are connected to the people we love, the happier we feel and the more personal satisfaction we have in our lives. Life will end but the action and accomplishments I will leave behind is what people are going to value and cherish.
Charisses’s way to Syde
Our family owned a small business back in the days and I used to help my mom every weekend during my rest day at school. That inspired me to choose Business Management as my major in college because it provides the academic knowledge and skills to pursue global career opportunities and it helps you develop a broad understanding of businesses and specific areas such as finance and human resources.
One of the main reasons why I choose to work from home is the work-life balance. When I saw the job posting from Syde on one of the job portals here in the Philippines, I knew I found what I was looking for. I already have basic knowledge of what WordPress is all about and this job will help me gain more expertise in said platform which really interests me. Also, being able to connect with my colleagues all around the globe, learning about their cultures, enhance effective communication and create an opportunity to get to know the people I’m working with better.
Starting a new job at Syde is exciting for lots of reasons. New colleagues, learning new skills and becoming part of a supportive team. The sudden shift from being an expert in my previous company to a newbie can be humbling and disorienting. But like starting any new job, I know that I’m not going to know everything on day one, that’s why I’m thankful to have the most supportive team here at Syde for always guiding us in everything that we do.
Questions to Syder Charisse
We asked Charisse a few personal questions to learn more about her:
What was the last book you read?
Nineteen Letters by Jodi Perry – It’s a beautiful story about never giving up. Memorable characters, beautiful writing and a storyline that spans two decades. It made me cry happy tears. Big, fat, happy tears! Also, we all need a reminder to live in the moment. Our lives are so busy, Nineteen Letters is the perfect book to remind us that life is short and love can be fleeting.
What was the best advice you ever got? Who gave it to you?
My mom said to always begin each day with a grateful heart. Every day that we wake up living and breathing, we are given a gift, a clean slate, an opportunity. It is up to us how we choose to spend that day, but we shall never forget how beautiful it is that the opportunity is presented to us.
What do you like most about your city?
Laguna is known for its beautiful lakes and majestic mountains (such as the famous Mt. Makiling, Mt. Banahaw, and Sierra Madre) providing a lot of opportunities for vacation, travel and tourism.
What is your favorite smartphone app?
WhatsApp and Signal – Because that’s how I communicate with my boyfriend who’s living and working overseas.
What is the best meal you can cook on your own?
Chicken Adobo! If you haven’t tried Filipino food yet, Adobo is a great place to start.
You get stuck in the elevator for many hours and there’s a song playing in a continuous loop, what song would that be?
Falling Like The Stars by James Arthur
