QA Analyst Ertan Sert

I was surprised by the professionalism of the onboarding process, and the people were so friendly.

In this article, we want to introduce Ertan Sert, our QA Analyst. When Ertan joined our agency in March 2023, we asked him a few questions to get to know him a little better.

He lives in Fethiye, Mugla, Turkey, a very beautiful Aegean town.

Fethiye, Mugla

How would you describe yourself?

I am a man who tries to live a happy and healthy life with my family, prepare a beautiful and happy future for my child, and improve everything around me.

I am a detailed person and always try to focus on solutions instead of problems, but of course, I keep learning from my mistakes or get away from the root causes of the problems so as not to face the same problems again and again.

Additionally, I am a bit shy at first but an easy person to get along with after some time.

How do you spend your time?

This question has different  answers depending on the stage of my life: before and after my son’s birth.

Before, I often hung out with my friends, visiting different cities and trying to get new hobbies such as photography, playing musical instruments, and reading historical books.

After my son was born, those things are dreams that rarely come true. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy my spare time, just the things I did change. I mostly play with my son after work and watch Netflix series at night.

The good news is that my son is also growing up (he is almost six now), and we do much more fun things nowadays, like going to cartoons in the cinema, cycling, reading, and even visiting new cities and exploring.

What is important to you?

Being healthy and happy with my family is the most important thing to me. Besides that, I don’t think anything else is too important.

Ertan’s way to Syde

My journey in the IT industry started as a manual tester when I met with a crowd-testing website in 2017, and I have been in the IT industry for six years.

In those years, I was promoted to Test Team Lead and Test Engineer roles in the same company. I did manual testing on many projects and helped my team to create and check new courses for new testers.

Last year, I joined a boot camp for learning automation testing. Now, I am at Syde.

Why was Syde interesting for you?

To be honest, I didn’t have any idea about Syde. Some of my close friends already worked at Syde and told me about an open position. They told me great things about Syde and their colleagues. I just finished the 3rd month at Syde, and they were absolutely right.

People are very professional, helpful, kind, and friendly. Besides that, Syde is a great company to improve my testing skills with the help of amazing projects. I think those are more than enough for anyone. I hope to have a long journey at Syde.

What do you especially like about your new job?

As I said above, I am detailed and trying to improve things around me. That’s why I am passionate about testing. So, I am just looking to get more experience in testing.

Questions to Syder Ertan

We asked Ertan a few personal questions to learn more about him:

What was the last book you read?

“Lives as if” (Mis Gibi Yasamlar) from Dogan Cuceloglu is about life as if some of us do not realize it, and some of us take it for granted and no longer find it strange.

What was the best advice you ever got? Who gave it to you?

“Stay away from negatively affecting people who bring you down and say “No!” if necessary,” was the best advice. I don’t remember who gave it to me, but it has helped me greatly after some unpleasant experiences.

What do you like most about your city?

The beaches and nature are amazing here. I like swimming and walking in the forest a lot.

What is your favorite smartphone app?

I guess Twitter. We haven’t had a TV at home in over two years, and it is my best news source. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know what is going on in the world. Also, I like to see people’s comments about an event and compare them with my thoughts.

What is the best meal you can cook on your own?

I’m totally incompetent at this. But I am good at putting eggs into the pot and waiting.

You get stuck in the elevator for many hours and there’s a song playing in a continuous loop. What song would that be?

Rolling in the Deep by Adele, but the version where she laughs loudly at the beginning. I just discovered it. I’m not sure about all the lyrics, but the atmosphere, rhythm, and music motivate me somehow.

By the way: The Syde Team is 100% remote

This enables us to bring together the best minds in the world in one team. You want to learn more about our way of working and the Syders? Take a look inside Syde!
